Nashville Life/ Home and School Days

I'm currently sitting in Charlotte, finally with all of my pictures loaded onto my computer and ready to get some memories on the blog!

So I'm rewinding to Nashville-- I was going to just hit Fall 2015 but since the 2015-2016 school year seems to run together now, I'm going to unload some pictures in a few posts and also hopefully reflect on some of the sweet things in our Nashville lives that we are missing these days!

Nashville, and East Nashville in particular, and even our little corner of East Nashville to be specific, were what I now refer to as a "dreamy" lifestyle fit for our family.  When we moved to Nashville we had two one year olds, and when we moved from Nashville we had a six year old, a five year old, a three year old, and one year old (and a PhD amongst other things 😏).  For many families, the "early years" raising small children can be a chaotic blur.  And while we had plenty of chaos and blurriness, we also have vivid, sweet and joyful memories of our place, people and time in 37206.

First day of school 2015, and first day with all 3 of these kiddos in one class together!
In Fall 2015 we started supplementing the kids school days at Montessori East with homeschooling.  Both Montessori East and Homeschooling could be (and maybe one day will be!) their own posts.  For now, I'll just say that having Charli, Sam, and Benjamin in one class a few blocks down the road from our home, being nurtured and growing at school while also learning and growing together at home, was a dream come true for both education and lifestyle for me and made for a wonderful year!

First Day of School 2015/2016

Big girl getting ready for Kindergarten

Afternoon Tea with Mom

We continued to have plenty of time for outings,"field trips," and playdates- this was early fall at the zoo.

Comfy reading position? He loves to sit like this.

Our tiny book lover- he could read all day!

Our walk between Montessori East and home.  Rosi and I would sometimes drop C, S & B at school and then go for a jog!
The kids were at Montessori East from Tuesday-Thursday and at home Friday-Monday.  We began "formal schooling" and also had lots of time to play and maintain our rhythms from previous years.
Morning play and tea party

Charli loves nature and always loved to find reptiles and insects.  Ladybugs are a particular favorite.

Perfect baby yoga

Lunches and cooking at home.  We love to cook and bake (and eat) together!

One benefit of homeschooling was the flexibility to spend time with and to learn with and from family when they came to visit!

Remember that vegetable garden?  We never really got the knack (yet!) but we did get some pretty end of season tomatoes!

Rosi's other room- our closet

Rosi continued to learn, grow and change too!  She was becoming a one year old!

Nashville has an amazing system of libraries.  We loved storytime at several of the libraries.  The best story time was at the main library, but because "The (totally innocuous) Professor" there terrified the kids, we went to the East Nashville neighborhood library story times a lot too.

Kroger-ing

Washing off the day towards the end of the days of four babies in a tub

We had plenty of sickness in these days and had to miss more than a few school or homeschool days to visit Dr Rauth at Heritage Peds!

This picture speaks for itself :)

I don't have nearly the pictures to represent the HOURS we spent at our Eastside parks!

Charli took ballet and tap at DancEast in 2015/2016 and Sam took Violin with Ms. Kristin.
As always, we spent plenty of hours in the backyard.

Happy days!
