There are so many reasons for me not to start a blog including, but not limited to, the following:
One: I have never once been able to keep a diary in my life. I'm pretty sure that every Christmas as a child I asked for a diary- not because my previous one was filled, but because I had lost the key, lost the diary, or written just enough that it was depressing to continue and I figured a new one would be motivating. This did not prove to be the case.
Two: There was a great quote on a calendar we got for my brother-in-law (Scott) for his birthday last year. It said, "Blogging: Never before have so many with so little to say said so much to so few" (It was from despair.com- a pretty funny break for seaching around if you have some time to kill). I have a feeling this will well describe the blog that I am about to embark upon.
Three: I am a slow writer. The computer does not help this because I have the free ability to erase anytime. Which means it could take very long periods of time (that are not at my free disposal) to write one single entry.
Obviously, though, the pros to starting a blog have outweighed the cons. So what are the pros?
One: I'm terrible at slowing down and documenting life in any way. For example, my digital camera has about 2 or 2 1/2 years of photos stuck inside on my memory card. Ouch. I'm hoping this will INSPIRE me to keep a running record!
Two: Drew and my life is only so interesting, but we have at least one, and hopefully two, babies on the way, and we have many friends and waiting-to-become grandparents who are going to be itching to follow his/her/their every step, so this will hopefully make that process easier.
Finally, and most importantly, I have been itching for years to have my name highlighted on Jennifer Kirby's blog when she mentions me, and this is my big chance :).
So, blogosphere, here we go...
